The Medicines Information and Advice Training Programme (MIATP)

The Medicines Information and Advice Training Programme (MIATP) for pharmacy technicians, replaces the old UKMI Accredited Medicines Information Technicians Training Scheme (AMITTS). MIATP has been produced in collaboration with UKMI and is delivered by Pharmacy Workforce Development South (PWDS).

MIATP is a national programme for the formal training and assessment of pharmacy technicians working in MI. The programme aims to equip pharmacy technicians with the required knowledge, skills, competence and confidence to be able to answer certain categories of MI enquiries without a further check.

The first programme will launch in February 2024. Learners should apply for the training programme via the pwds website. Please note that spaces are limited, the programme will have two intakes per year.

For further information, in the first instance please see the MIATP webpage which includes useful information about the programme, costs and how to apply. If you still have questions or need further advice please contact the AMITTS Training Programme Directors: Kate Postle at kate.postle@uhbw.nhs.uk and Michèle Skipp at michele.skipp@uhbw.nhs.uk
